Vic Darchinyan has no fear about fighting Z Gorres in the Philippines.
But he does expect the flashy Filipino to be even tougher to beat on home soil.
The bout is set for February 2 in Cebu City. The winner will face Russian Dmitri Kirilov for the IBF super-flyweight title.
“Vic and I have discussed the fight at length,?? said Darchinyan?s adviser Angelo Hyder.
“He says he doesn?t care where the fight is held because he plans to knock Gorres out. He is very confident of overpowering Gorres.
“But he?s also aware that Gorres will probably fight 30 per cent harder in front of his home crowd.
“Vic will have to give the performance of his life to overcome that.??
Hyder said the decision to accept the offer to fight in Cebu City was strictly a business decision.
“Vic was the one who said `take the fight,?? Hyder said.
“He realised it was great money and he figures he can win the fight anywhere.
“I can?t say I like the idea of Vic fighting Gorres in the Philippines. I would have been much happier if the fight was in Sydney.
“But there will be neutral judges appointed by the IBF so we know we will get a fair shake.??
