WBO middleweight champion will face Martin Murray next on June 23 after his fight was rescheduled.
The Hatfield-born boxer suffered an injury hence the delay but despite his near boxing masterclass against David Lemieux, Saunders believes the best is yet to come.
He said: “I knew during the ring walk against David Lemieux that I was going to box well but I knew that wasn?t the fight that would get me up to bring that elite performance out.
“What people need to realise is that I play it safe now with fights because I want to get to that one big fight where I want to show what I?m about.
“When I get to that one big fight there won?t be as much running or doing what I do because I won?t care – I?m there ? what I?ve worked for all my life it will be there in front of me.
“Against David Lemieux I could?ve stepped on him in some of them rounds, took a chance, and stopped him.
“I thought just do this for 12 rounds, you?re going to absolutely batter him and school him anyway.
“When I?m in there with one ?the? men ? Golovkin or Canelo, then you?ll see the best of me. But that?s nowhere near the best of me ? nowhere near.”
Kazakh fighter Golovkin has revealed he is eyeing a match against Saunders should his rematch with Alvarez fall through.
The highly-anticipated fight was thrown into doubt after Canelo tested positive for a banned substance.
“If the fight can’t happen, the next step for me is Saunders,” GGG said.
“It is my dream to get all the world championship belts.”
