Darchinyan: Gorres will be one of my toughest fights

Vic Darchinyan admits Filipino southpaw Z Gorres will be one of the toughest fights of his career ? a fit and talented boxer who should have held a world title by now.

But he also says he has the aggressive heavy-handed style to turn “The Dream?s?? title quest into a nightmare in a war between southpaws.

The IBF has ordered Darchinyan and Gorres to reach agreement for an IBF super-flyweight eliminator by November 8 or the fight will go to purse bids.

Darchinyan?s manager Elias Nasser told Sydney radio station 2SM today that he hoped Gorres? backers Golden Boy would stage the fight on the Hatton-Mayweather undercard in Las Vegas on December 8.

The winner will become the mandatory contender for the IBF super-flyweight title held by Russian Dimitri Kirilov.

Darchinyan said yesterday: “Gorres will be one of the toughest fights of my career. He is a very good fighter.

“He lost a world title fight to Montiel and should have got the decision.

“But I showed beating Catubay (on October 20) that I can be patient and that I have the stamina to go 12 rounds if I have to.

“Everyone knows I have a powerful left hand but I have a very good right jab too.

“I have always fought well against southpaws and Gorres has a style that suits me.

“I am very confident of winning and then beating Kirilov for the IBF title.??

Nasser said Darchinyan?s loss to Nonito Donaire was just a hiccup on Darchinyan?s plan for world domination.

“He wants to beat all the top super-flyweights,?? Nasser said.

“Cristian Mijares, Jorge Arce, Kirilov and Fernando Montiel. Montiel would be great because Vic also beat his brother Alejandro.

“Vic is back bigger and better than ever.??
