WHAT?S the real score with Manny Pacquiao?
Fans of the People?s Featherweight Champion are confused as to what?s really happening to the career of the 26-year-old General Santos City native.
A day after his website issued a statement regarding his firing of his US-based promoter Murad Muhammad, national newspapers reported that his Dec. 4 fight with Australian Gary St.Clair is a ?done deal.?
The fight is promoted by Muhammad and Rod Nazario, and will be staged in Taguig.
?Manny Pacquiao is coming home to defend his People?s Featherweight championship,? Muhammad and Nazario said in a statement issued to Manila-based newspapers. ?We are very ecstatic about this fight. This is a done deal.?
However, Marty Elorde, Pacquiao?s manager, told Sun.Star Cebu he is not sure about the fight.
?I don?t know, I have no knowledge of that, but they are already saying that it is a done deal,? Elorde said.
Elorde said a reporter also informed him that Muhammad and Nazario were incensed with Pacquiao?s decision.
?Nagagalit sila kay (They are angry at) Manny,? Elorde said. ?They insist that they still have a contract with Manny.?
In a press statement, Pacquiao said he fired Muhammad because Muhammad has breached their contract on ?several accounts.?
Elorde was also supposed to talk with Pacquiao Thursday night to negotiate for their contract, but was postponed until next week when Pacquiao arrives in Manila.
Elorde told Sun.Star Cebu he is offering a P5 million signing bonus and P20,000 monthly allowance to Pacquiao.
?However, once we get to talk, there will be some changes,? Elorde said.
Curiously Muhammad and Nazario will also be coming to Manila next week.
