Another one of Conor McGregor’s sparring partners has hit the canvas.
But this knockdown is unlikely to cause as much trouble as the one which sent Paulie Malignaggi tumbling.
McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh posted a photo to Instagram on Monday. It showed himself on the floor during a sparring session with the UFC star, who is less than one week away from his fight with boxing icon Floyd Mayweather.
Kavanagh accompanied the picture with the caption: ‘”Y’all right down there coach?” #notapush #winorlearn #6days #mayweathermcgregor’.
The first hashtag was a reference to McGregor’s bitter feud with former sparring partner Malignaggi, who quit the Irishman’s camp after an image of him on his back was leaked.
American Malignaggi insisted that he had been pushed over, rather than floored by a punch, as McGregor had claimed.
But more footage shared by UFC chief Dana White seemed to support McGregor’s version of events.
Saturday’s main event between McGregor and Mayweather will not require anecdotal evidence to decide the victor.
It will be watched by a global audience, generating huge money for both fighters.
McGregor is set to earn a basic purse of ?62million, while Mayweather will pocket a minimum of ?78m.
