Conor McGregor reveals how long he’s been eyeing Floyd Mayweather super-fight

In the early hours of Sunday morning, McGregor, the reigning UFC lightweight champion, takes on ‘Money’ Mayweather in an unlikely boxing match.

McGregor’s encounter with Mayweather, which has been dubbed ‘The Billion Dollar Fight’ takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the eyes of many boxing pursuits, Mayweather vs McGregor, the former’s 50th professional outing is a farce.

That opinion is held by many on account of the fact that twenty-nine-year-old McGregor enters the bout with no professional boxing experience to his name.

The most divisive fight in the history of the sweet science began a real possibility not too long after McGregor made history at UFC 205 by becoming the first fighter in the promotion’s history to hold two titles simultaneously.

Shortly after his historic feat, one which will likely never be repeated, Ireland’s first UFC belt holder made his case for entering the boxing world to the UFC brass, who granted their poster boy his wish in late June.

McGregor’s pressuring of the UFC to make the fight happen so soon after becoming a simultaneous two-weight world champion made many believe the thought of a fight with Mayweather only came into his mind shortly after he conquered the mixed martial arts world.

According to the man himself, that couldn’t be any further from the truth.

?I knew we were similar in weight and I knew he spoke ill of my sport,? McGregor told Starsport.

?And I had my eye on him since then.?
