WHAT?S up next for the revered people?s featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao remains uncertain after promoter Frank Maloney slammed the door against a possible showdown between his ward, reigning World Boxing Organization 126 pounds champion Scott Harrison, and the Filipino ring superstar.
Maloney had earlier expressed interest of a possible title defense by Harrison against Pacquiao, but in a drastic twist of event, Maloney announced that the Scottish hard-puncher will put his title on the line gainst the undefeated Samuel Kebede on October 29 at the Bradehead Arena in Glascow, Scotland.
The WBO No.6 featherweight contender Kebede, a native of Ethiopia who is now based in Sweden, racked up an impressive 24-0 win-loss record spiked with 14K0s.
Harrison though did not discount the possibility of a possible megabuck showdown with some of the brightest featherweight in the planet today in the future including Pacquiao, the conqueror of the resurgent Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera.
?I know that every time I step into the ring it is my future on the line so I want to go out there and destroy whoever is in front of me as quickly as possible,? Harrison told Fightnewsd.com.
?The super-fights against Marco Antonio Barrera, Manny Pacquiao, Juan Marquez and Injin Chi are out there so there can be no room for slip ups as I have found out in the past,? added Harrison who wasx earlier vocal in his desire to challenge the power-hitting Pacquiao.
With Harrison avoiding Pacquiao?s path, speculations arise that Pacquiao maybe sidelined until next year.
Pacquiao?s business manager Rod Nazario and American promoter Murad Muhammad are working double time to firm up a fight for the Filipino destroyer within this year.
At the moment, Pacquiao is left without an immediate opponent with Mexican stars Erick Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Barrera apparently ducking from the General Santos City-native punching machine.
Pacquiao last fought on May 8, wherein he figured in a controversial slit draw with IBF/WBA featherweight champion Marquez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao could have won the match had it not been for referee Burt Clements?s faulty judgement on three-knockdown rule in one round.
