Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather will cost American TV audience ?70, sparking fears British fans will have to fork out to watch mega-fight

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will go toe-to-toe in one of the biggest fights of all time, but it will not come cheap for the American television audience.

The August 26 showdown will force fans to fork out ?69.85 ($89.99) to watch in standard definition and ?77.60 ($99.99) for HD.

British fans will fear such a cost will translate into a hefty sum for them to pay, although traditionally pay-per-view fights are always more expensive in the US.

Fight-fans across the pond will be charged the same amount as Mayweather’s huge clash with Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

That underwhelming contest racked up ?350million in PPV buys and this match-up is expected to do even better, attracting interest from MMA, boxing and those interested in a unique spectacle.

Mayweather and McGregor command attention with their mouths before fight-night and both back it up with dazzling performances in their respective sports so television companies can depend on a huge audience.

British broadcasters are yet to finalise a deal to show the fight or announce how far into their pockets viewers will be told to dig.
