Manny Pacquiao is “getting very impatient” over the failure of promoter Murad Muhammad to arrange a fight for him, according to Roberto “Boying” Nazario, son of the featherweight People?s Champion?s business manager Rod Nazario. The young Nazario told Viva Sports/Manila Standard that the 25 year old ring gladiator from General Santos City is “lonely and wants his wife Jinkee and their two children to come over for the time being while there is no definite plan in place.”
Nazario said his father and Murad were scheduled to discuss plans for a Pacquiao fight but Team Pacquiao member Moy Lainez disclosed he received a call from Nazario who told him there was “still nothing” as far as a promised fight before December is concerned. Nazario is stranded in Florida because of hurricane Ivan but hopes to talk to top officials of HBO sports within the week.
Meantime, Roberto Nazario said that Frank Maloney, manager of World Boxing Organization champion Scott Harrison was in touch with him regarding a possible title defense against Pacquiao. Nazario said they were “waiting to find out what?s on the table for Manny.”
Nazario said that Philippine super featherweight champion Bobby Pacquiao and Orient Pacific Boxing Federation No.1 super flyweight Z “The Dream” Gorres were “doing fine.” He said the two young prospects were “still adjusting and doing a lot of sightseeing.” Nazario revealed that they had started jogging yesterday morning and will “eventually step it up as the week progresses” under the astute eye of 2003 “Trainer of the Year” Freddie Roach.
In Bangkok, former IBF junior featherweight No. 1 contender Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym who last week retained his IBF Pan Pacific featherweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Wanjon Hai of North Korea said he was ready to step in for a fight with Pacquiao while WBA featherweight champion Chris John of Indonesia also expressed willingness to fight Pacquiao even in Manila. However, both opponents are unlikely to excite Pacquiao?s handlers since the Filipino southpaw annihilated Rakkiatgym in one round on October 26, 2002 while John is unknown outside Indonesia and isn?t regarded as a champion who would attract fight fans in Manila.
