Brisbane, Australia ? Trainer Glenn Rushton was right all along.
Rushton, who called the shots in Jeff Horn?s eye-popping win over Manny Pacquiao, said on Sunday that he never wavered the belief that they will come up with an unforgettable performance.
?We said that we would shock the world,? said Rushton following Horn?s unanimous decision win.
?Today was Sunday Bloody Sunday and we kept on saying that and they (Pacquiao?s camp) said it?s going to be early but I always knew that we would take them deep.?
That?s exactly what happened when Horn survived a ninth-round scare before posting the biggest win of his young career.
?Jeff was just hungry and we had a 10-point plan and we stuck to it and we just had to execute and nobody can execute that other than Jeff,? said a beaming Rushton.
Ridiculed for downgrading Pacquao?s chances, Rushton stuck to his belief and sounded like a prophet when he faced the media in the presence of Top Rank head Bob Arum.
?We didn?t come here to put up a good fight. We came to win and we did win,? added Rushton.
Aside from Rushton, Horn and his family, Dundee Kim, a Korean ?migr?, was precise in his assessment.
Kim, who served as Horn?s conditioning coach, had told Manila-based scribes that Pacquiao wasn?t in perfect shape, basing his statements on the videos of Pacquiao?s training on the Internet.
Kim also noticed that Pacquiao?s physical state wasn?t topnotch, citing the color and complexion of his skin as one reason.
