On Wednesday evening, it was confirmed that McGregor, Ireland’s first UFC belt holder, will take on Mayweather in a boxing match.
McGregor’s bout with Mayweather, his first bout since claiming the UFC lightweight venue, will take place on August 26.
The multi-million dollar fight, which has been the talk of the combat sports world for well over a year, will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Shortly after Mayweather vs McGregor was announced, the latter fired a well thought out shot at the former, teasing him over his old age.
McGregor, the reigning UFC lightweight champion, posted a side-by-side picture of himself and Mayweather’s father, Floyd Sr, with the accompanying caption: “THE FIGHT IS ON.”
McGregor’s head coach, John Kavanagh soon got in the act, trolling Mayweather for his recent challenge to his fans.
He tweeted: “If u ever wondered how a 12yr old boy would act if they suddenly had a lot of money #MayweatherIsMentallyChallenged.”
While many in the combat sports are debating the outcome of ‘The Billion Dollar Fight’, one thing’s for sure, Kavanagh’s tweet to Mayweather won’t be the last verbal jab thrown by Team McGregor.
We wait with baited breath for their next dig ‘Money’ Mayweather.
