Australian Jeff Horn reminded Manny Pacquiao a couple of days ago not to look past their world welterweight title fight in Brisbane, sounding slighted over what he?s been reading online exactly a month before they face off on July 2.
During the first few weeks of training camp, all Horn heard and read was how Pacquiao was seemingly taking things lightly, thinking that all the Filipino legend needs to do to win is show up at Suncorp Stadium.
But after Freddie Roach saw for himself how Pacquuiao was holding his camp, the eight-division titleholder began shaping up, knowing that the 29-year-old Horn was not playing it nice and easy.
?It?s always nice to hear that they?re finally taking me a bit more seriously, not coming here for an easy $10 million, knock me over and think about the next fight. That?s all I see on the internet ? what?s Manny?s next fight,? Horn told the Sydney Morning Herald.
Earlier in the week, the papers and the Internet ran stories about Pacquiao?s plans after the Horn showdown and it didn?t sit well with the unbeaten challenger.
Even Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum dipped his fingers, suggesting that it would be a thriller to see Pacquiao get it on with MMA star Conor McGregor in case Floyd Mayweather withdraws from a proposed clash.
Roach also joined the fray, telling fight beat scribes how he relishes seeing Pacquiao meet the likes of Mikey Garcia, Mayweather again in a rematch, and even McGregor provided that it is held in a boxing ring, and not in an Octagon, and boxing rules are used.
Other future Pacquiao foes also include the rising Errol Spence, Keith Thurman and Terence Crawford.
Horn, neck-deep in training in Brisbane, obviously didn?t like what was being talked about and proposed to Pacquiao.
?Well, he?s got to get through me first. He mightn?t want to fight again,? he said.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, reported for training yesterday and sparred for nine rounds as the entire team gets ready to uproot the camp for General Santos City for the first day of workout there tomorrow.
Pacquiao, whose last fight was in November, is tentatively set to leave for Brisbane on June 24.
