LOS ANGELES – Unless there’s another change of plan, Marco Antonio Barrera, with very little fanfare, will fly out of Guadalajara Saturday to be in Los Angeles.
Earlier, a statement from Golden Boy Promotions said Barrera was planning to leave his training camp in Mexico on Sunday and take a direct flight to Las Vegas.
But there seems to have been a change of plan. Instead, Barrera will stay in LA for a day before moving to Las Vegas, the site of his rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
Once in LA, Barrera might work out at a local gym to be provided by GBP, and later on grace a promotional event.
Ramiro Gonzales of GBP said Barrera normally takes a commercial flight, unlike his countryman Erik Morales who flies in and out on board a private plane.
Pacquiao has been in LA for a week after training more than a month in the Philippines. He moves to Las Vegas on Monday after his final sparring session at Wild Card.
Coming in with Barrera are members of his team, his father Jorge Sr. and brother Jorge Jr., Sendai Tanaka, his Japanese conditioning coach, and an expert in acupuncture. They will be joined in LA by master cutman Tony Rivera.
