MUSIC AND BOXERS. While I?m on the subject of music and trying to horrify you with my atrocious composing skills, let me share with you a brief conversation I had with Freddie Roach while I was watching Manny Pacquiao skipping rope and sing Josh Groban?s ?You raise me up? at the same time.
I asked Freddie if the music selection was part of the training regimen. He smiled and said no. Apparently, there was somebody else doing the deejay duties.
And so I became interested in what music other boxers listened to while they trained. Here?s what I gathered.
Oscar dela Hoya- Latin music at the end of the routine.
Mike Tyson- None, no music at all.
James Toney- Rap music full of the f-word.
