MANILA ? Manny Pacquiao may finally get the knockout victory that has eluded him for years when he exchanges shots with Amir Khan.
Khan, a former unified light-welterweight world champion, is known for having a weak chin, which is why Pacquiao?s camp decided to pick him for a May 20 fight date, according to fight analyst Dennis Principe.
?As good as he is, skills-wise, Amir Khan, is one of the few fighters na mayroong glass jaw,? Principe told ABS-CBN News.
The fight commentator said Khan has decent power, impressive hand speed and footwork, but could not find a remedy for his malleable mandible.
As a result, 3 of Khan’s career defeats came by way of knockout. In fact, in his most recent fight in May 2016, he got dropped by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez with a right hand to the jaw.
This presents an opportunity for Pacquiao to end his knockout drought. The last time the Filipino superstar stopped a fighter was when he halted Miguel Cotto in 2009.
?I think gusto nila si Amir because there is that great chance to finally score a knockout,? said Principe.
A stoppage win could put Pacquiao back into the equation with Floyd Mayweather Jr. who could come out of retirement anytime.
?It is apparent hindi naman talaga totally retired si Floyd for him to talk about a possible match with Conor McGregor,? Principe said.
Another drawback for Khan is that he used to train under Freddie Roach, the same coach who developed Pacquiao.
Principe said Roach should know all the loopholes in Khan?s game.
