Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, whose behind-closed-doors sparring sessions have reached urban legend status among fight fans, have agreed to face each other.
Both camps confirmed the fight on their respective social media accounts with Pacquiao, 38, making the announcement first.
?Negotiations between team Pacquiao and team Khan have come to terms for the April 23 bout as this is what the fans wanted,? said Pacquiao on Twitter.
Khan, who is from England but is of Pakistani extraction, echoed Pacquiao?s statements.
?My team and I have agreed terms with Manny Pacquiao and his team for a super fight,? said Khan, 30.
Canadian Mike Koncz, Pacquiao?s adviser, said the fight will be held in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, the two main cities of the United Arab Emirates with April 23 still the working date.
?The camps have come to terms,? said Koncz, who is expected to dot the Is and cross the Ts in the next few days as Pacquiao is setting the stage for his four-week buildup.
Pacquiao easily beat Jessie Vargas last November in Las Vegas while Khan suffered a brutal sixth-round knockout at the hands of Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez six months earlier also in Sin City.
Australia was bidding to stage the fight with Brisbane hoping to pit local boy Jeff Horn against Pacquiao at the 52,500-capacity Suncorp Stadium.
There is also a report from the UK saying that Khan might end up clashing with Pacquiao on British soil.
Pacquiao (58-6-2 with 39 KOs) will hold his training camp in the country while the Senate is on recess from mid-March to early-May.
Khan (31-4 with 19 KOs), was Pacquiao?s chief sparmate when the Englishman was still being trained by Freddie Roach seven years ago.
Both camps have different versions of their sparring sessions with Pacquiao saying that he handled him well and Khan claiming that the Filipino had to walk the tightrope when they were working out together.
