TWO of the three Filipino fighters from the Rex ?Wakee? Salud International boxing stable seeking their WBC International titles will fly for South Africa today.
Minimumweight Alex Aroy and lightweight JR Sollano will leave for Johannesburg together with trainer Juanito Ablaca and boxing manager Diego Famador.
Aroy will challenge Zukisani Kwayiba on Sept. 21 at the Carousel Hotel and Casino in Temba, South Africa, while Sollano will fight Ali Funeka on Sept. 23 at the Orient Theatre in East London, Eastern Cape
The third Filipino, Apol Suico, is scheduled to fight Moruti Mthalane for the vacant WBC international flyweight belt on Sept. 29 at the Park Station in Johannesburg in Gauteng.
Tough
It will be a tough task for Aroy (12-4-1, 6 KOs) when he faces the undefeated Kwayiba (9-0, 7 KOs) for the title. Kwayiba won the title over Aroy?s stablemate Gabriel ?Bon-Bon? Pumar by a 10th round TKO in September last year.
Kwayiba had one successful defense and Aroy, who is coming off a technical decision loss to Milan Melindo last February, has an equal capability to score an upset as he scored three straight KOs before his loss to Melindo.
Fresh
Sollano (12-6, 9 KOs), the Philippine lightweight champion is also fresh from a fourth-round knockout win over Arnel Porras last August for his RP belt and fighting in Africa is no longer strange to him.
He fought but lost to Mzonke Fana in December 2005 and has five KO wins in his last seven fights.
Experienced
However, Funeka, (28-1-2, 23KOs) who won the belt by knockout on the fourth round, is a more experienced fighter.
As for Suico (10-1, 6KOs), who will make his first trip outside the country, it?s going to be a tough a challenge as he fights for the vacant against the reigning South African 112-lb. champion Mthalane (19-1, 13KOs).
Suico will leave for South Africa together with Willy Flores on Sept. 22.
