This is me. Perhaps its U2. But fuck it, here it goes?
First of all, this fight is going to happen and that sucks. In fact, there are so many reasons why this fight sucks that I?ll leave quite a few reasons out. This fight sucks, because I believe its all about ?Money? being poured down a drain. If he loses (don?t roll your eyes and think this isn?t possible, after-all, Donald Trump is your President), he will lose to a very loud Irish man that will resonate within the black community in ways Floyd doesn?t want to imagine. He would become the chocolate version of Vanilla Ice on the streets.
That sucks.
This fight sucks because the Nevada State Athletic Commission will most likely bypass all of its rules and discretion for money. Do they care about Floyd Mayweather?s legacy? Absolutely not (in Floyd?s most dramatic voice). They probably care about the over $400 million cost of T-Mobile Arena that Floyd was photographed breaking ground on with a shovel when the project started. I figured ?Money? would factor into that equation, ala a rematch with Canelo Alvarez or Manny Pacquiao. Maybe even a TBE legacy defining confrontation with GGG. But this?
Conor McGregor (whose greedy handlers actually set up a PPV interview with this man), in the first boxing match of his fucking life, will get an opportunity to face the best pure boxer of his generation, while making more money than so many great fighters combined in their careers in just one night. I?m not comparing McGregor to Michael Jordan, but think about something. This is a hypothetical Jordan just being given a starting position in RF for the Chicago White Sox in the World Series. How fair would that be to all of the other players that busted their ass since- not just before spring training, but for all of their lives in that sport?
Even more insulting is it will take place after Mayweather took the softest route into retirement by facing Andre Berto. We all knew Berto would suck against Floyd, just like we knew the PPV numbers for that sorry ass fight would suck. If Mayweather is not opposite an absolute star, he doesn?t do well at the box office. So with that in mind? without any conspiracy and under fair play, consider that ANDRE BERTO WOULD BEAT CONOR MCGREGOR?S ASS IN A BOXING RING. Fair enough?
Knowing that sucks.
This is not how you get to 50-0 as a bona fide all-time great. Its how you get to 50 ? and oh? An unfathomable 49-1 as a result of this, would be, as Donald Trump loves to say, ?a disaster.? Someone should fire whoever?s responsible for this most blatant cash grab of a cash strapped society in history.
