World champion Jerwin Ancajas showed up for training early yesterday morning in Macau where he will make the first defense of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight title against Jose Alfredo Rodriguez of Mexico this Sunday.
Ancajas, whose team arrived in Macau via Hong Kong early Tuesday night from Manila, began his morning workout with light exercises and a bit of shadow-boxing.
One of just three reigning Filipino world champions, Ancajas fights under Manny Pacquiao?s MP Promotions and is heavily favored to repulse Rodriguez when they square off at the Studio City Hotel and Casino.
Ancajas brings to the ring a 25-1-1 win-loss-draw card with 16 KOs, while Rodriguez enters the scheduled 12-rounder with a 32-4 slate with 19 KOs.
Ancajas had won the IBF 115-lb crown with a resounding decision victory over Puerto Rican McJoe Arroyo last year in Taguig.
