The sudden change of events in the last few days have made boxing fans jump for joy. The Marco Antonio Barrera-Manny Pacquiao rematch went bust due to issues with money. Barrera is out and Erik Morales steps in. Arum was looking for Morales to have a huge pay per view showdown in November and Arum has found the man to match against Morales. Top Rank was initially looking at Joel Casamayor for Morales, now they will get an even bigger fight by facing Manny Pacquiao. BoxingScene caught up with Morales to shoot a few questions about Pacquiao and Barrera.
BoxingScene: It appears now that the wheels are in motion for you and Manny Pacquiao to finally get together in the ring. Most experts say that his come forward style is custom made for you.
Morales: It’s good if he wants to press the fight, he will give me plenty of openings. A fight with Pacquiao will bring out the best in me. It will be a classic.
BoxingScene: Are you concerned about his left hand?
Morales: I’m not worried about his left hand, he better worry about my right hand.
BoxingScene: Do you think the weight and size advantage will be the difference for you?
Morales: I feel very comfortable at this weight, I will control him once we get in the ring. I have more weapons in my style.
BoxingScene: What about Barrera? Will there ever be a third meeting after this fight?
Morales: If the people still want it then we will do it.
BoxingScene: You two guys dont seem to like eachother much. You two had a brawl at a press conference, near street fights.
Morales: (laughing) Well… I cant say that we were ever friends.
BoxingScene: Why the rivalry?
Morales: He thinks I made comments about him after he lost to (Junior) Jones but the truth is Barrera has bad feelings towards me because the Mexican people support me over him. It doesnt matter what he does, the Mexican people are on my side.
