JERRY Castroverde was robbed the last time he fought overseas and with another assignment in international soil, Castroverde and his coach, Jingjing Tepora, won?t let the referee or the judges decide the outcome of the fight this time around.
The 19-year-old Castroverde faces unbeaten Russian Shavkat Rakhimov for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Youth super featherweight crown on Nov. 15 at the Dom Pechati in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
?We should knock him out so that there won?t be a hometown decision,? Tepora told Sun.Star Cebu. ?I think we have a huge chance of winning because the opponent doesn?t run and fits his (Jerry) style. ?
The 22-year-old Rakhimov is coming off a second round stoppage over journeyman Farhod Oripov and is 6-0 with 4 KOs. Castroverde is 9-3 with five knockouts.
