CEBU, Philippines – Cebuano boxer Junrel Jimenez of Chao Sy Stable will try to bounce back from a shock defeat in his previous bout as he takes centerstage in the Medellin Boxing 2016 this Friday evening at the Medellin Recreation Center.
The 20-year-old flyweight prospect will slug it out with JR Salvador of Mandaue City in the main event of the slambang show presented by Cebuano sportsman Lorenzo ‘Chao’ Sy and Big Yellow Promotions in partnership with the local government unit of Medellin, one of the nine municipalities comprising the fourth congressional district of Cebu Province known for its vast sugar cane plantations and pristine beaches.
Jimenez is itching to get back on the right track after losing via retirement to Cebu-based Leyte?o Salatiel Amit during the landmark “Uptown Rumble” fightcard presented by Omega Sports Promotions International last June 11 at the One Mango parking lot. It was his first loss in six pro bouts spiked with 2KOs.
Jimenez will go up against Salvador, a veteran of 36 fights but only has five wins to his credit, the last one by split decision over Boholano Powell Balaba two years ago.
In the other featured matches of the action-packed card under the auspices of Medellin Municipal Sports Development through its chairman Juan Alfonso Lim, Big Yellow Stable fighters Marjun Pantilgan and Cris Ganoza will take on Rowel Garcia of Koronadal City and Roqa Libres of Bohol, respectively.
Also set to see action is champion runner turned boxer Ian Refuela of Chao Sy Stable against Macmac Baribar of Bohol and Clyde Azarcon of Big Yellow Stable versus Marlou Talili of Koronadal. (EBV) (FREEMAN)
