AFTER a couple of hitches, World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental featherweight champion Neil John Tabanao is good to go for his fight in Ghana this weekend.
A few days back, Tabanao?s fight was sketchy after they had a hard time looking for yellow fever vaccine, which was required for travel to Africa.
But after settling that, Tabanao and his coach Brix Flores faced another problem, this time, with their visas.
But after everything was settled and a long and tiring trip, Tabanao and Flores finally arrived in Ghana yesterday.
Tabanao is facing unbeaten WBO Africa featherweight king Isaac Dogboe for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth featherweight strap this Saturday at the Police Officer?s Social and Fitness Center in Accra.
The 22-year-old Tabanao won?t leave anything by chance and eyes a knockout.
?We have a fair chance but I believe that I won?t knock him out then we will lose,? Tabanao earlier said.
Tabanao, rated No. 15 by the WBO, was very impressive in his last fight, scoring a third round technical knockout of previously unbeaten Ibrahim Balla in Australia.
The 21-year-old Dogboe is a promising up-and-coming fighter. He won the WBO Africa title with a seventh round stoppage over George Krampah. He successfully defended his belt twice, one against Michael Pappoe and the other a sixth round technical knockout of Edward Kakembo.
Tabanao is 13-1 with nine knockouts, while Dogboe is 14-0 with nine knockouts.
