The planned return of Manny Pacquiao has given rise to the idea a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. could be on the horizon. But that doesn?t appear to be the case.
According to promoter Bob Arum, Mayweather has no intentions of returning to the ring anytime soon. Arum discovered this reality while reaching out to Al Haymon about possible opponents for Pacquiao?s fall return. Haymon guided Mayweather?s career before he announced his retirement following his win versus Andre Berto last September.
?We talked about facing Mayweather this year with Pacquiao,? Arum told RingTV.com on Wednesday of his talks with Haymon. ?And Al said that Mayweather was enjoying his retirement and had no plans to go back into the ring.?
Mayweather?s decision win against Pacquiao in May of 2015 broke every box office record in boxing. It also produced heaps of ill will because of the cautious nature of the fight and because Pacquiao revealed afterward he had competed with a shoulder injury unbeknownst to fans.
