Boxing champion and now Senator Manny Pacquaio said that he has no plans in taking a senate leave to fight in the boxing ring again.
Rumors on Manny?s supposed ?senate leave? spread after Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told the Boxingscene that Pacquiao already got permission to take a break from his senate duties to take on another fight.
?There is no truth to media reports that I?m planning to take a leave from my Senate duties just to fight again atop the ring,? Pacquiao said in a statement.
?I want to make it clear?my priority is my legislative works,? he added.
Earlier this year, Pacquiao have already announced that he?s retiring from boxing after having a unanimous victory against Timothy Bradley Jr. on April 9.
In Arum?s interview with ESPN, he said that the fight would probably fall on Oct. 29 or Nov. 5 in the main event of an HBO PPV card in Las Vegas.
The legislator slash sports champion also assured the people that if ever he decides to fight again, he will make sure that it will not interfere with his Senate duties.
?If ever I decide to fight again, rest assured, it will happen when Congress is on recess so there?s no need for me to go on leave,? Eight-division boxing world champion promised.
Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz also revealed ESPN that Manny?s primary concern and obligation is to fulfill his senatorial duties.
?He is taking his job in the senate seriously. He is not going to be absent,? Koncz stated.
The boxer-turned-senator garnered 16,050,546 votes and placed 7th in the senatorial race last May 9 elections.
The former Saranggani Representative was questioned for his absenteeism streak but after winning a Senate post last May 9 elections, he said that he is keen on aiming for a 100-percent attendance.
