Former world title challenger Cesar ?Corazon? Juarez (18-5, 11 KOs) scored a spectacular upset eighth round KO over previously unbeaten WBO #2, IBF #4, WBC #10 junior featherweight ?Prince? Albert Pagara (26-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California. Pagara dropped Juarez at the end of round one with a clean left hook, but Juarez, who gave Nonito Donaire all he could handle, relentlessly pressured and broke down the 22-year-old Filipino. Juarez battered Pagara in round seven, then finally put him on the canvas with a barrage of punches in round eight. ?Prince Albert? tried to rise, but then sank back down to the canvas for the count. Time was :15.
WBO #1 junior welterweight Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara (39-2, 24 KOs) scored an explosive third round KO over journeyman Abraham ?The Swift? Alvarez (21-10-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at theSan Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California. A right hand dropped Alvarez for the count. Time was :55.
Middleweight Ricardo Pinell (14-2-1, 8 KOs) knocked out Robert Yong (5-9-2, 4 KOs) at 1:44 of round two. Yong was out before he hit the canvas courtesy of a left hook that he didn?t see coming. Cheers of the knockout blow were followed very shortly by looks of concern for the Yong as he laid motionless on the canvas. Fortunately, Yong with aid was able to be lifted up to the stool in his corner where medics attended to him.
Super Welterweight Mauricio Zavaleta (3-2-1, 2 KOs) defeated Darren Mallard Jr (3-2-1) by six round majority decision.Zavaleta landed some overhand right hooks with bad intentions, but Mallard jr. proved to be there for the long haul. Scores read 57-57, 59-55 and 59-55.
Super featherweights Gabejan Pete Doran (14-0-1, 11 KOs) and Edgar Gabejan (27-33, 9 KOs) fought to split draw. Gabejan proved to have the length and sting to his punches but Doran seemed relentless and just charged his way to take over the inside action of the fight. The crowd was mixed with cheers and boos at the decision. Scores were 77-75 Duran, 78-74 Gabejan and 76-76.
Flyweight Israel Hernandez (1-2-1) defeated Michael Flores (0-1) won by unanimous decision. Hernandez dominated the action from the opening bell. Scorecards read 40-36, 40-36, 39-37.
Super lightweight Lennard Davis IV (1-0) defeated David Figueroa (1-1) by four round unanimous decision. Scores were 40-36, 40-36, 39-37. The young fighters went toe to toe at times. Davis IV landed flush overhand rights throughout the fight.
