Jeff Lacy
Jeff Lacy will be fighting former British light-heavy champ Tony Oakey in white collar event in the UK on October 1. Yes, that Jeff Lacey, now 39 and coming off an embarrassing stoppage loss to Sullivan Barrera last year
?Left Hook? will meet the 40-year-old Oakey (29-6-1) in a bout billed as ?Resurrection ? England Vs. USA? in a light-heavyweight bout. Oakey has not boxed since 2010 so Lacey just might notch a win here.
Robin Reid, who Lacy halted in savage fashion in 2005, will be the referee for this strange encounter.
On his hoped-for appearance by Joe Calzaghe, Lacy said:
?I?m looking forward to having Joe Calzaghe attend this fight, to finish my documentary. It will be the only face to face chat we?ll have had since our fight over a decade ago. Joe finally made a name for himself after fighting me and he has stated that on many occasions. Now I?m hoping he will show up for this, my very first time returning to his country. I?m asking him to be part of my documentary, that?s all I ask for ? a face to face meeting, with cameras; to talk about our fight. I made him a star and I have two ringside seats with his name on them.?
Vic Darchinyan
A shot ?Raging Bull? has suffered brutal, head snapping KO?s to Nonito Donaire (213), Nicholas Watters (2014) and Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar (2015). But he is not done just yet and his next opponent on July 16 (on the Arreola-Wilder undercard) will be inactive Enrique ?Cuaie? Quevedo (16-7-1). Cuate holds wins over Yoandia Salinas and Christopher Martin but has not fought since 2014 and he too could provide a much-needed win for Vic.
Ray Austin
The aging and inactive ?Rainman? will be up against prospect Gerald Washington (17-0-1) on the same card as Darchinyan vs. Quevedo and will not get ?W? as Washington recently beat Fast Eddie Chambers while Ray was getting stopped by Andy Ruiz Jr. Austin is 6?6? but so is Washington.
Samuel Amoako
?Bruno? (21-14) hails from Ghana and has lost 7 in a row after having fought in Ghana between 2010 and 2014. In fact, all but one of his defeats has come outside the friendly environs of Accra. His opponent will be Ryan ?Blue Chip? Martin (14-0). Martin is a road warrior who should come away with an easy win against the Ghanaian.
Danny Green
The inactive and aging Green Machine (34-5) will be fighting the active Kane ?Sugar? Watts on August 8. Sugar has won 9 straight with all but one coming by way of stoppage. If this is a farewell fight for Danny, he has his work cut out.
Czar Amonsot
?We would like to thank all of the boxing fans who have supported Czar and his family with their thoughts and prayers over the past few days.??Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer
The Czar of Bohol also fights on August 8 against an opponent yet to be named but likely will be a set-up from Thailand. Pinoy Czar last lost in 2007 to an undefeated Michael Katsidis in a gut crunching, neck snapping affair and suffered severe injuries.
Amonsot?s embarrassing defeat to Indonesian Simson ?The Terminator? Butar-Butar in September 2006, or less than a year before the Katsidis classic, was almost as troubling. At stake in that one was the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title. At the 47-second mark, ?The Terminator? terminated Amonsot with a one-punch icing that was as chilling as anything you will ever see. The Czar went down, then got up, then went down and then wobbled and stumbled across the ring in the Filipino version of Queer Street. It was reminiscent of the Berbick-Tyson trifecta. Butar, who did a perfect back somersault to celebrate, has since faded
After taking off 18 months after the Katsidis debacle, Czar returned to the ring and has now gone 15 straight fights without a defeat He moved Down Under and does all of his fighting there as well. However, every time her steps into the ring danger lurks as Amonsot is playing coving?s version of Russian Roulette.
