WBO No.1 welterweight challenger Jason Pagara is set to give boxing fans a good fight when he makes his second ring appearance in the US Saturday night at the San Mateo Events Center in San Mateo, California.
Jason is joining his younger brother Albert in their second fight in the US and is set to face Mexican challenger Abraham Alvarez (21-9-1, 10 KOs). Albert is facing former Nonito Donaire’s challenger Cesar Juarez in the main event of the evening in his toughest fight of his career. Jason is favored to win over Alvarez, who has nine losses in his pro career with less than 50 percent knockout rating. The American-born challenger is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jonas Olivas last June. Alvarez believes he can score a win over Jason saying he is quick enough and is confident of his power. “I’ll try to use my jab and move around. I’ll focus on my power and body punches and my hook. I think he cannot block so many punches. He has a good defense, but I think if I’m quick enough, I will be able to hit him a lot,” said Alvarez For his part Jason said he is better prepared this time as he had a well-coordinated training in San Francisco the past weeks which include a brief practice earlier at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. ?I am determined to give the fans a good show. My training for the past weeks have definitely been better compared when I was in the Philippines,? said Pagara, who is ranked No.1 welterweight by the World Boxing Organization. (WBO). Jason is coming off a unanimous decision win over Miguel Zamudio at Cebu City Sports Complex, in Cebu, Philippines last April following his knockout win over Santos Benavides during his US debut at the StubHub Center in Carson California last year. Jason is gunning for his 12th straght win since losing to Rosbel Montoya in 2011.
