ALBERT Pagara will take a few moves from Nonito Donaire Jr.?s playbook and use it against Mexican slugger Cesar Juarez in their 12-round encounter this weekend at the San Mateo Events Center in San Mateo, California.
The 22-year-old Pagara and his coaches have watched over-and-over the fight of Donaire Jr. and Juarez and they have seen what?s effective and what?s not.
?We learned a lot from the Nonito fight. Nonito fought Juarez?s fight (that?s why he had a hard time),? ALA Gym trainer Edmund Villamor told Sun.Star Cebu. ?We will use jabs and counter punches like Nonito. The jab is always useful against a fighter like Juarez and we?ll also use quick punches.?
Pagara has to use the ring with his quick lateral movements and use his jab to open up Juarez.
?He must not fight Juarez?s fight,? said Villamor. ?Yes that?s what he has to do but he must not also run too much. But he has use his footwork.?
Pagara defends his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental super bantamweight belt against Juarez in the main event of Pinoy Pride 37 – ?Fists of the Future? on Sunday morning (RP time).
Juarez fought Donaire Jr. for the vacant WBO super bantamweight belt last December. He gave Donaire Jr. a run for his money but lost by unanimous decision.
Villamor is confident that his young ward can do what no boxer has ever done to Juarez, knock him out.
