A House resolution honoring Muhammad Ali has the support of only one Republican.
Rep. G. K. Butterfield (D-N.C.), the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), on Tuesday introduced a measure to recognize the ?extraordinary life, accomplishments, and countless contributions? of Ali, who died last week at the age of 74.
The boxing legend is also remembered as a civil rights icon and for his many humanitarian accomplishments.
A list of the resolution’s 42 co-sponsors includes only one Republican: Rep. Mia Love (Utah), a CBC member.
As of Wednesday morning, no other Republicans had signed on to the measure.
