IBF flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng from Thailand and Filipino John Riel Casimero meet in a rematch on Wednesday at the Diamond Court in Beijing, China, after their foul-filled wrestling match in June last year in Thailand.
In what was nowhere near a boxing match it was reported that referee Larry Doggett allowed the champion to get away with repeated illegal tactics.
This time the fighters will meet on neutral ground and the referee will be the experienced Tony Weeks who should be able to keep the fight under control.
The 36-year-old Ruenroeng, who has a record of 17-0; 5, has been fighting as a pro since May 2016, but despite his age and short professional career he is good enough for the best in the division.
He has great strength and rather freakish long arms for a flyweight, but has had stamina problems in previous fights.
Casimero, 26, a nine-year pro is a former IBF light flyweight champion with a record of 21-3; 13 with his only losses coming against Ramon Garcia Hirales, Moruti Mthalane and Ruenroeng, all in world title fights.
Even though Casimero is a warrior, at flyweight he has distinct disadvantages in power and size.
Despite the fouling in the first fight, Ruenroeng looked the better fighter and should have enough to take the decision.
