Unbeaten super-bantamweight prospect Prince Albert Pagara has vowed not to violate a cardinal rule in boxing when he faces Mexican banger Cesar Juarez in his second fight on US soil on July 9.
Pagara (26-0-0 with 18 KOs) assured scribes yesterday that he will answer the bell in California, armed to the teeth.
?I will have to work on speed, stamina and footwork (during training),? said Pagara, who is risking his lofty ranking in the major governing bodies in meeting the rugged Juarez at the San Mateo Events Center.
Juarez (17-5 with 13 KOs) fought but lost to Nonito Donaire in their world title fight last year in Puerto Rico but not after giving the Filipino-American a big scare late in the fight.
Pagara noted that Donaire didn?t have the stamina to go 12 rounds with Juarez and guaranteed everyone that he won?t go into the fight lacking in staying power.
?That is something I won?t do because I saw what it could do to a fighter who lacks stamina,? said Pagara, who is raring to get it on with Juarez.
?He?s the type of fighter that I like to fight because he doesn?t run away. He is right there in front of you so fight fans should expect a great and action-packed fight,? added Pagara.
This will be the second time Pagara?s promotional outfit, ALA Boxing, is staging a big card on US shores. Last year, Donnie Nietes headlined a show at the StubHub Center in Carson.
To rev up for Juarez, Pagara flew to the US last night with trainer Michael Domingo, who will lay the groundwork for the preparations that will be held at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.
?We will welcome anything that coach Freddie will advise us,? said Domingo.
