Never mind that both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have, ostensibly, retired from the fight game. They?re still exchanging jabs, at least verbally.
Pacquiao, who beat Timothy Bradley in a welterweight fight Saturday night, questioned whether Mayweather has a mental ?problem? after he scored Pacquiao?s victory a draw. The judges saw it differently, scoring the fight 116-110 in favor of Pacquiao. The Filipino boxer had two knockdowns in the fight and Mayweather?s opinion was in the minority.
?If that is his opinion, it is right for him to retire,? Pacquiao said (via 24 Oras and Boxing Scene?s Carlos Boogs). ?It seems there is really a problem [with his mental state].?
Mayweather, according to ESPN?s Wallace Matthew, made the observation in a brief conversation with Bradley after the fight Saturday. ?Go home and watch the replay with the sound off,? Wallace reports Mayweather told Bradley. Mayweather, according to Wallace, seemed to believe that the a decidedly pro-Pacquiao crowd at the Las Vegas fight had influenced the judges.
Bradley himself wasn?t questioning the result and Wallace?s source says that Mayweather wasn?t just being nice to Bradley. ?There was no theatrics, he spoke very quietly and seriously to Timmy,? Wallace reports that the unnamed source told him. ?He was very complimentary and very classy.?
At least one person wants to see Pacquiao, who will turn 38 in December, fight again.
