Los Angeles ? Manny Pacquiao was in high spirits not only because his training went well Tuesday afternoon (Wednesday) at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.
It was for another reason.
Pacquiao was beaming after going through a seven-round sparring with Ghislan Maduma and Lydell Rhodes as he had earlier been told that the Commission on Elections did not find anything wrong with the Philippine telecast of his April 9 showdown with Tim Bradley in Las Vegas.
?Natutuwa ako sa favorable decision. This is not about politics. Para sa bayan (din) ito,? Pacquiao told reporters.
Pacquiao?s critics and even fellow senatorial candidates had voiced out their stand on the Filipino fighter?s exposure via the broadcast of his upcoming fight as an undue advantage, adding the 37-year-old fighting congressman would enjoy extra publicity for free.
Pacquiao is running under the banner of United Nationalist Alliance of Vice President Jejomar Binay and after earning the ire of the LGBT community last month, he has rebounded by regaining his place in the top 12 of most surveys.
Solar Sports Entertainment holds the telecast rights over Pacquiao?s with GMA 7 as the TV station that will air the 12-round welterweight match.
BRADLEY?S TARGET
Pacquiao believes Tim Bradley will attempt to do to him what he did to Brandon Rios late last year.
?I think they?re going to go to the body,? Pacquiao told his longtime Australian strength coach Justin Fortune on Tuesday as he was about to wrap another grueling day at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.
Bradley took out Rios with body shots and Pacquiao feels the US fighter thinks he can also use that strategy against him when they slug it out on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
?You sure, you sure?? asked Fortune.
Pacquiao nodded then circled the ring, unleashing furious combinations that slashed through the air before putting an end to his workout doing crunches, the final stage of his daily routine.
In disposing of Rios, who went 12 rounds with Pacquiao in Macau in late-2013, Bradley never let up on banging the Mexican-American?s soft-looking breadbasket until he went down grimacing in pain.
