HEAVY-handed Junny Salogaol defends his Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) bantamweight belt against promising teen pug Carlo Demecillo in the main event of “Sinumbagay sa Kawit” at the new covered court of Brgy. Kawit in Medellin.
Salogaol is coming off a big win over once highly-regarded Marvin Tampus, wh he knocked out in five rounds last December to win the vacant PBF crown. After a rough patch in his career, the 22-year-old Salogaol has won six out of his last seven fights with his only loss, a unanimous decision defeat to Mike Tawatchai last year.
The 19-year-old Demecillo had an impressive campaign last year. He beat two promising young fighters in Jess Rhey Waminal and Virgel Vitor.
Salogaol is 10-8-1 with 10 knockouts, while Demecillo is 5-2 with a knockout.
In the undercard, unbeaten 20-year-old prospect Junriel Jimenez (3-0) slugs it out with Belmar Plaza (3-5-3, 1 KO) in an eight rounder, Kenan Villaflor (5-1-2, 2 KOs) takes on undefeated Jeffrey Stella (3-0-1, 3 KOs) in a six round bout and Clyde Azarcon (4-1, 1 KO) is up against Marlou Talili (5-12, 2 KOs).
The free-to-the-public event promoted by Lorenzo Chao Sy in cooperation with vice-mayor Alfonso Lim will be opened up by exciting amateur fights of pugs from Cebu City and Medellin.
