Pacquiao logs 5 rds. of sparring

After a few days of rest, Manny Pacquiao was back in fighting mode yesterday, logging five intense rounds of sparring in General Santos City.

Revving up for the rubber match with Tim Bradley set April 9 in Las Vegas, the fighting congressman from Sarangani banged bodies with Congolese-Canadian Ghislain Muduma.

Last Tuesday, Pacquiao kicked off the sparring stage of his buildup, going four rounds with the 31-year-old from Montreal.

Pretty soon, Muduma will have company as Pacquiao adviser Mike Koncz may recall Lydell Rhodes to help in the sparring.

?Manny?s getting on top of his game that I am thinking of importing Rhodes,? said Koncz.

Pacquiao was forced to skip training for two straight days (Wednesday and Thursday) after experiencing eye problems due to the excessive amount of petroleum jelly that got inside his right eye during training.

Now that the 37-year-old Pacquiao is back on track, sparring will resume this Tuesday with Freddie Roach watching his every move.

Pacquiao is eyeing a sensational showing against the rugged Bradley following his loss to Floyd Mayweather last year.

2 EVENTS IN US

Meantime, ALA Boxing is fast becoming the country?s premier promotional outfit after Michael Aldeguer revealed the details about two shows in the US West Coast in July and September and a return to the Middle East before the year draws to a close.

Aldeguer just arrived from the US after setting the stage for ALA Boxing?s second project in America with the San Francisco Bay Area as the site of a card scheduled on July 9.

The city of San Mateo, located less than 20 miles from San Francisco, will showcase the second fight of Prince Albert Pagara and possibly Mark Magsayo, who made a rousing introduction to US fight fans with their splendid showing late last year. While Aldeguer is drooling over the prospects of promoting in the Bay Area, it is the Sept. 24 event at the StubHub Center in Carson, California that is keeping him on his toes.
