I?VE always been very fond of waiters. To me there?s something so fascinating about all the fussing and bustling.
Especially if the wait staff are exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu items, those are extra points from a gourmand like me.
But be careful if your waiter is someone like Gabriel Salvador.
You see, Salvador claims he had a pivotal role in making the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao mega-fight happen and wants his share of the pie.
It?s a huge share too as he has filed a suit for $8.6 million naming as respondents Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao, CBS, and one Keith Davidson , purportedly a representative of Roach.
The story goes that Salvador , during his time as a waiter at Craig?s in West Hollywood, met CBS president Leslie Moonves and he brokered a meeting with the latter, Roach and Pacquiao.
The aspiring actor claims he was verbally promised a ? customary finder?s fee? of two percent of gross proceed from the fight.
Michael Koncz, Pacquiao?s adviser recently came out with a statement labeling the suit as nothing more than a shakedown and an extortion attempt I don?t know Michael, seems like Salvador has got you by the balls, here.
In fact, I have a bombshell to unleash right now that will definitely shake up the boxing world and you read it here first at Sun Star Cebu.
I have been contacted by a dishwasher of Nat?s Thai Food, that eatery in Los Angeles frequented by Pacquiao and his team.
According to my client, he was the one who washed the dinner plates used during that historic meal when Roach and his team formulated the winning strategy to beat Miguel Cotto.
He even vividly recalls the meal items to be Thai veggie spring rolls, Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai noodles.
My client theorizes that the plates were so immaculately clean, that the food served on these plates was able to shine and thereby galvanized Roach and his group to eloquently come up with the winning strategy.
My dishwashing marvel–who is a part time stand up comedian–even has the photograph to prove his claim as he wisely grabbed the opportunity to snap a ?groupfie? while they were in such high spirits and their mouths were smeared in honey tamarind sauce.
And unlike waiter Salvador whose claims are founded on financial considerations, my client?s isn?t as shameless.
In a moment of pure vivacity and graciousness, my client claims that Pacquiao?s team granted his request that he be allowed to sing the national anthem at Pacquiao?Bradley 2.
In fact without need of cajoling, he dutifully offered them a rendition right then and there as a sample of what he could offer on fight night.
However after that meeting , numerous calls he made to the Pacquiao team were unreturned and to add insult to injury, he was made to report for duty on fight night, washing dishes while he endured watching Jessica Sanchez on TV taking in all the attention he so richly deserved.
In order to right the wrong and to seek justice for my client, I am prepared to slap Manny Pacquiao and his team with a multi-million dollar suit so hard his ancestors in Pinamungajan are going to feel it.
However, we will not be any more obdurate than what is needed. This early we are ready to offer a concession:
Let my client sing for the third fight this coming April 9 and all is forgiven.
I don?t think that would be too difficult. After all, there is no money involved and my client sings so beautifully he could make Timothy Bradley?s hair grow back.
So there. I hope our message to Team Pacquiao is loud and clear. This isn?t a shakedown, Mr Koncz. This is a throw down.
LAST ROUND. It?s on Ahlmers Ibones, better half of Hon. Judge Wilson, who celebrates her birthday this week. Cheers!
