Guevara and Guevara both triumph
In his first fight since losing his WBC light flyweight title by split decision to Yu Kimura in November, former world champion Pedro Guevara (27-2-1, 17 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Jether ?General? Oliva (23-5-2, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the Lobodome in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Scores were 100-91 across the board. Guevara is gunning for a rematch with Kimura.
In the co-feature, Pedro?s brother and two-time world title challenger Alberto ?Metro? Guevara (24-2, 9 KOs) won a harder than expected majority decision over Edward ?Nightmare? Mansito (13-4-2, 7 KOs) in an eight round super bantamweight clash. Scores were 76-76, 77-75 and 78-75. Mansito was originally slated to face Jessie Magdaleno in Phoenix, but took this bout instead due to a visa problem entering the U.S.
In other notable action, former female world champion Ava Knight (13-2-4, 5 KOs), from Chico, California, and local favorite Jasseth ?Dinamita? Noriega (17-3-2, 5 KOs) battled to a six round draw in a super flyweight contest.
Super featherweight Rodolfo ?Rudy? Flores (12-3, 5 KOs) won a close eight round split decision over Jairo ?Doberman? Lopez (18-6, 12 KOs). Scores were 77-76, 77-75 for Flores, 77-75 for Lopez.
