For as tough as Manny Pacquiao can be in the boxing ring, his recent comments on homosexuals hit harder than any punch fans have seen him throw in a long, long time.
During an interview earlier this week, Pacquiao?an eight-time world champion fighter and Philippines politician that is considered a conservative Christian politician?angered many by making a comparison to homosexuals and animals when it comes to choosing mates.
“It’s common sense. Do you see animals mating with the same sex?” Pacquiao said in comments translated to English by TV5. “Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female. If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals.”
By Tuesday, Pacquiao had changed his stance?at least the harshness of it.
In a Facebook post on Pacquiao’s page, the fighter tried to quell the outrage.
“I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals, Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao’s next?and final?fight is scheduled for April in a battle with Timothy Bradley for the WBO welterweight title.
