American trainer Freddie Roach is scheduled to arrive on February 14 to supervise Manny Pacquiao?s training in General Santos for his upcoming third bout against reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Timothy Bradley on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
?In fact, Manny?s training has already started but the formal training will begin next week. He didn?t box for so many months that?s why he started with early pre-workout,? Pacquiao?s personal adviser Mike Koncz told The Manila Times in a phone interview on Sunday. ?Next week Manny will be in Manila for some official business.?
?Freddie [Roach] will be arriving here in General Santos on the 14th of February to supervise Manny?s training and evaluate his present fighting condition. We are all confident that Pacquiao will win that fight. We always believe in his capability,? Koncz added.
Pacquiao lost to unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather Jr. via unanimous decision in May last year in Las Vegas. Mayweather officially retired after the fight while Pacquiao went through surgery to repair his right rotator cuff.
Pacquiao, 37, refrained from all boxing training for more than six months after the operation.
?We are going to be strict during the course of his training. We are always strict when it comes to Manny?s training,? said Koncz.
Pacquiao will train for eight weeks starting February for the Bradley fight. The first four weeks will be in General Santos while the last four weeks will be at Roach?s Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles, California.
Pacquiao lost to Bradley via controversial split decision in their first bout in June 2012. He avenged his loss to Bradley in April 2014 in their rematch by posting a unanimous win to recapture the WBO welterweight crown.
