Pacquiao to skip PBA coaching job to train for Bradley fight

Manny Pacquiao is taking a respite as playing coach of Mahindra Enforcers (Kia Sorento) in the PBA to stay focused on the training for his trilogy fight against Timothy Bradley on April 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao has returned to the Philippines after a week-long promotional tour in Los Angeles and New York to sell his upcoming farewell fight. Pacquiao’s longtime trainer Freddie Roach is scheduled to arrive in the Philippines on or about the second week of February to start the first phase of training in GenSan. According to Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz, Pacquiao will start training as early as end of this month. ?He told me that when he gets back from the press tour, he will begin training, said Koncz, who has been traveling with Pacquiao during the week-long press promotional tour in the US. ?I think that he will be going to the gym before the end of the month.?. Pacquiao, who is seeking a senate seat in the upcoming May elections in the Philippines, has been cleared by his orthopedic doctor to start training for his next fight. Dr.Neal ElAttrache, who performed the surgery on Pacquiao a few days after the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, examined Pacquiao in his clinic and cleared him to fight on April 9. The noted Los Angeles surgeon was reportedly pleased by the result of the operation. Elated by the result, Pacquiao said he’s ready for his upcoming fight. ?Ready to go, ready to fight,? said Pacquiao, who is promoting his April 9 fight against Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Initially Koncz wanted Pacquiao to train in Los Angeles for the entire duration of the training camp but knowing that there would always be distractions wherever he trains, he has now agreed to have the first phase of training in GenSan. ?Ever since, as far as I can remember, there have been distractions during his training camp. We can only minimize but we can never prevent these,? Koncz said.
