UNDEFEATED super-bantamweight Prince Albert Pagara headlines a promising list of rising prospects as ALA Promotions kicks off 2016 with Pinoy Pride 35 ?Stars of the Future? on February 27 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.
The Cebu-based promotional outfit, known for its grassroots program for boxers in rural areas, will be staging its first event of the year after going full-throttle abroad in the Pinoy Pride 33 at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California, last year.
The 21-year-old Pagara (25 wins, no loss, 18 knockouts) takes on former world champion Carlos Sanchez Jr. (20-4-1 draw, nine KOs) in the main event.
Pagara won the vacant World Boxing Organization Youth super-bantamweight title with a sixth-round technical knockout of highly fancied Nicaraguan William Gonzales in his US debut.
The card will also feature Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo (12-0, 10 KOs), who decisively won an impressive first-round knockout against Mexico?s Yardley Suarez and also took home the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth featherweight belt.
Magsayo, 20, will be up against Mexican slugger Eduardo Montoya, who is coming off a sixth-round TKO win over Cipriano Garcia last October.
It will be a busy year for ALA Promotions, as it is also scheduled to tie up with Bob Arum?s Top Rank for a big event in Manila for a possible title defense of Nonito Donaire Jr. on April 23.
