Fan-pleasing Argentinian junior welterweight brawler Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34 KOs) could fight boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao (57-6, 38 KOs) early next year in what could be the Filipino ring legend?s last fight. Matthysse?s promoter Oscar De La Hoya says talks are underway to make that fight happen.
With Pacquiao?s last fight against Floyd Mayweather smashing boxing records for pay-per-view buys, pay-per-view revenue and live gate, many thought a Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch would be a given, despite Floyd?s claimed retirement. However, if that rematch doesn?t come together, Pacquiao-Matthysse has all the ingredients for a classic match.
