Manny Pacquiao, regarded by many as the most exciting fighter in boxing, could be making his next title defence at GM Place in Vancouver.
Promoter Bob Arum told boxingconfidental.com that the city is a leading candidate to host the 12-round super featherweight bout (130 lbs.) against Humberto Soto, scheduled for Oct. 6.
“We will have an announcement on Manny next Monday or Tuesday,” Arum said.
The locale is considered attractive due to the large Filipino and Asian population in British Columbia and Washington state.
Pacquiao (44-3-2, 35 knockouts) is an icon in his native Philippines. The 28-year-old has scored stoppage wins over champions Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera and knocked down Juan Manuel Marquez three times before settling for a 12-round draw.
Soto (42-5-2, 26 KOs) is a 10-year veteran who hails from Mexico. He rose to prominence with an upset decision win over Rocky Juarez two years ago to win the World Boxing Council featherweight title.
