Golovkin is coming of an impressive win in which he defeated David Lemieux by a TKO stoppage. I personally thought it was going to be more of a competitive fight but Golovkin proved me otherwise. But I’m still not ready to crown him as a top dog yet until he fihgts someone like Ward or Mayweather. He probably will be fighting the winner of Canelo/Cotto which I could see them both trying to duck him and I would even be interested in a match against the winner of Jacobs/Quillin but they to seem to be all talk when it comes to facing Golovkin. Now as far as a Mayweather match the possibility seems unlikely as of right now but this would be such an interesting fight from GGG’s power to Mayweather’s speed and boxing ability. I see the fight probably going 7-5 for Mayweather in the end but it in no way would be an easy fight for him because he needs to be cautious of Golovkin’s power. Usually when a power puncher gets in a ring with a skill boxer and they actually have to work for that KO they often become discouraged and as soon as they get a taste of their own medicine they show a quitting mentality we saw examples of this with Tyson, Duran, Chavez Jr., Golota, Liston, etc. Something in common with all of the boxers I just named was that some of their notable defeats came to subperb out-boxers. I just think that this is a must see fight and Mayweather should consider this because this would definitley put a stamp on his greatness among the all-time greats. For Golovkin this would put him on the next level as far as P4P best boxer in the sport and solidify his greatness in his division. If this fight were to occur I’d give it to Floyd 7-5 by unaminous decision because in my opinion the boxer can always use a power puncher’s power against him and netrualize it.
