hat?s because two grizzled fighters ? Donnie Nietes and Brian Viloria ? are out to captivate the world anew when they go up against separate rivals in the United States.
While their rivals are dangerous, both Nietes and Viloria are supremely confident of their chances.
After sparring against each other for four rounds, Nietes and Viloria praised each other?s preparation, confident they?ll both get the job done against their opponents.
Nietes is defending his World Boxing Organization light-flyweight crown against Juan Alejo of Mexico at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, while Viloria meets Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua for the World Boxing Council fly belt at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The two became so fond of each other?s skills and concern that they promised to do it all over again today at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood as their training enters the tapering off period.
?They did great,? said Edito Villamor, who trains Nietes.
Nietes benefited heavily as Viloria is a naturally bigger fighter and heavier puncher.
Viloria, whose parents are from Ilocos Sur, also racked up premium minutes of sparring owing to Nietes? technical style and loads of experience.
While Nietes is the huge favorite against Alejo, Viloria is the underdog against the unbeaten and heavy-handed Goznalez, whose roster of knockout victims include three Filipinos.
But Viloria is unfazed and looks forward to his coronation night in the Big Apple.
Many times in the past, Viloria defied the odds and scored most of his memorable wins.
The Gonzalez fight will be no different, Viloria vows.
