Marco Antonio Barrera has been ordered to undergo a battery of neurological tests before he can get a license from the Texas Boxing Commission to fight International Boxing Federation junior featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao in a 12-round, nontitle fight at the San Antonio Alamadome on Nov. 15.
John Whisler of the San Antonio Express News reported that despite numerous MRIs and other neurological examinations in the past, including an Oct. 9 series of tests at the UCLA Medical Center, where Barrera was given a clean bill of health, Dickie Cole and the Texas Commission wanted their own tests conducted and the featherweight king had agreed to travel to Houston for the tests.
