Pro boxing shifts to the western part of the Visayas as Calbayog City in Samar play host to another prizefighting event. Dubbed as "Mano-A-Mano sa Fiesta San Calbayog", the competition will be held at the Calbayog City Sports Center on the 6th of September at 6 pm.
Main attraction of the promotion will feature Panabo City-native and Asian Boxing Federation featherweight champion Neil John Montalban Tabanao aka "Tabanao NJ Singwangcha" against savvy veteran Marvin Tampus of Bato, Leyte in a 10-round non-title affair. Slick punching Tabanao, who fights out of the Flores Boxing Academy lost his unbeaten streak via a very close split decision to Randy Braga for the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) 126-pound title at the Elorde Sports Complex in his last bout. Alvin Makiling of Cagayan de Oro City was supposed to be the original opponent for the rising up-and comer Tabanao but was forced to pull out.
Other scheduled bouts include JR Salvador of Phil-Aust Boxing Gym against Rambo Lagos of Valencia, Bukidnon for 8 rounds, Margarito Moya, aka "Moya M Singwangcha" of Flores Boxing Academy vs. Renan Portes of Bukidnon in another 8 round bout, Edwin Mondala of Bato, Leyte against Arnel Coactoy of Leyte for 6 rounds, Edison Serrano of Mandaue City vs. Arnel Acebuque of Valencia City in Bukidnon. First pro contest of the night will feature Jun Flores against Feljun Taneo of Ormoc City for 4 rounds. Open boxing bouts are also scheduled as lead-in and is expected to showcase the young amateur talents in the Samar and Leyte area.
