PROBABLY angered by the loss of his younger brother Bobby to Humberto Soto and pestered by the victor’s challenge, Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao has accepted the call of Mexican right after the conclusion of the card at the Madison Square Garden last Sunday in New York.
ABS-CBN’s Dianne Castillejo interviewed PacMan right after the fight and the General Santos City-native puncher said he is going to accept the challenge.
“As of now, yes I want to fight Soto, I’m accepting his challenge to find out how strong he really is,” Pacquiao said in the interview posted at www.abs-cbnnews.com
Top Rank, however, has no official word yet as Bob Arum is yet to get an agreement for the venue for the Oct. 6 fight before he gets to tackle who Pacquiao fights during that day.
Manny’s younger brother, Bobby, lost to Soto by knockout in the seventh round in their scheduled 10-round fight.
“I couldn’t explain what I was feeling. I felt pity for Bobby, I felt like crying,” Manny added. Manny was shown covering his face with his hands just as his brother dropped to the canvas after getting hit in the body.
Under contract
Soto, on the other hand, who is also under contract with Top Rank said he is more keen on fighting the older Pacquiao than his Mexican compatriots Marco Antonio Barrera or Juan Manuel Marquez during the post fight press conference.
On the other hand, insiders in Team Pacquiao said it’s 80 percent done for the Pacquiao-Soto fight in Vancouver, Canada.
