Parcel of land for Sisnorio kin

MANILA, Philippines—The blind sacrifice of boxer Lito Sisnorio will not go totally unrewarded, after all.

The family of the late boxer will get a parcel of land, a carabao and cash with which they could start a new life.

Indeed, the properties and money will go a long way, said Angelito Sr., the boxer’s father, as his family tries to move on three months since the fighter’s death caused by head injuries sustained after a fight in Thailand.

The younger Sisnorio died less than 24 hours after his fourth-round knockout loss to former world champion Chatchai Sasakul in Thailand on March 30. He was 24.

The elder Sisnorio received his share of P20,000 from the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) last week as part of the proceeds of the recent Fiesta Fistiana boxing card which raised funds for injured and destitute boxers.

Their share from the Fiesta Fistiana fund, along with donations earlier received from Manny Pacquiao and a fund drive initiated by a local radio and television station, will be used to purchase a piece of farm land and a carabao in General Santos City, according to the elder Sisnorio.

“These will be the Sisnorio’s first real pro-perties,” said Sisnorio’s niece Kristine Camora. “My uncle’s death is not going to waste.”
